Introducing our team here at Dodona Analytics is a pleasure every month, whether it’s chatting with HR, Sales, or our product engineers, the conversation always offers unexpected insight into what makes us tick as individuals as well as a team. This month we talk to Head of Delivery, Phil Radcliffe.
Phil leads project delivery here at Dodona, with an accomplished track record of customer success and a strong advocacy for the needs of our customers. Let’s meet him.
Hi Phil, Tell us a bit about your role here at Dodona.
Hi. Well, in real terms, my role as Chief Delivery Officer translates to managing the teams that create our product roadmap, actually develop the product, and manage our existing customers. It’s a varied role which is product-focused but also very much with people, our customers, in mind.
What inspired you to choose this career?
I’ve been in tech a long time, doing various roles from development and consulting, to pre-sales, sales and general management. What I like very much about my role is keeping the product very close to the market. All companies say they value and act on customer feedback but it’s rarely a big part of what guides them. In many of the companies I’ve worked at, a lot of the product was developed that wasn’t actually valued by customers or the sales team trying to address the customers.
Being responsible for customers and the product means that the product is shaped by 5+ customer conversations each and every week. That's a good feeling.
What does your department do at Dodona?
In a nutshell, we help customers to build and grow their charge point businesses. Our Charge Point Planning (CPP) solution is designed to sit at the centre of their EV charging site assessment, selection and planning process, and is shaped with them in mind. In order for that to happen, both myself and my colleagues take the time to speak with and listen to customers when it comes to how they are using our product as well as how they might like to use it going forward. This shapes our product roadmap and ensures the teams are delivering a CPP solution which speaks to the needs of the market.
What inspired you to join the company?
I needed a change. I was becoming bored with the eCommerce and content world I’d been in for quite some time and was looking for a new direction. I had no idea what was next for me and asked a previous work colleague of mine from 15 years ago - now Dodona Analytics Co Founder and Head of Sales, Chris Chamberlain - “ how did you get into this eMobility space?”. And that was that. You’d never normally get me to admit it, but it was Chris who inspired me to join the company.
What is your favorite part of working at Dodona?
Variety. Yes, it’s great to know we are helping charge point businesses to build a better future for us all, but when it boils down to it the variety in my every day is a big part of what I enjoy. Equally, we are still molding the development of EV charging infrastructure, so being so active within an evolving market is an exciting and varied experience in itself.
What do you think of the mission to support the future mobility industry and, specifically, clean transportation?
It’s really nice to be finally working on something where success for your customers and yourself actually does some good and isn’t just about growing a company and making money.
Who do you nominate next?
I am nominating Rok Petrovčič Vižintin, a Software Developer from my team who works on our product everyday, making the insight we glean from our customer and prospect conversations into a reality. It would be great to hear from him!
Thank you Phil, it was great hearing from you!
Next month we’ll be speaking with Software Developer Rok Petrovčič Vižintin, see you then!
