Each month we talk to a different member of the Dodona team. This December, we hear from Data...

Product Designer Matic Modic is in the Meet the Team interview chair this month, telling us about his passion for creative design and his excitement in seeing his ideas come to life in the Dodona Analytics Charge Point Planning Platform.
It is always a pleasure to interview members of the Dodona Analytics team. This month I speak with Matic Modic, a Product Designer whose ideas and designs are pivotal in making our Charge Point Planning Platform both intuitive and practical for our customers.
So, let’s hear from him!
Hi Matic, thank you for your time.
Please, tell us about what you do here at Dodona Analytics.
To put it shortly, I’m a product designer. It is my job to design everything that we see on the platform before it is then implemented by our developers. This can range from customer requests to new features, as well as improving the existing features of our platform. I do a lot of user experience planning beforehand and after that I start working on how the interface should look.
What inspired you to choose this career?
I’ve always been a creative person. When I was a child I loved drawing and building things so I pursued my career as a graphic designer and then as my career evolved I became a UX/UI designer. I love seeing my work on display and what especially makes me happy is seeing that customers are satisfied with what we (our department) come up with.
What does your department do at Dodona?
My department is taking care of our product's improvements. I work a lot with our Chief Delivery Officer, Phil Radcliffe, and our Head of Engineering, Boris Man, to plan out the new features that we will be implementing. I also work closely with our Front-End department.
What is your favorite part of working at Dodona?
The open-minded people that I have the opportunity to work with. Everyone is always happy to help you if you get stuck at a certain point during your work.
What do you think of the mission to support the future mobility industry and, specifically, clean transportation?
I think it’s the way forward. When I visited Bilbao, Spain, some time ago, I noticed that the majority of buses are 100% powered by electricity. I was really impressed to see that some cities are paying attention to the need for more sustainable ways of transportation.
What are you reading, watching or playing that we should try?
I’m currently reading a book called The Kilometers of Life which describes a young Slovenian couple travelling the world on their motorcycle and describing everything that happened on their travels. This book and its author inspired me to do the same - travel the world and experience foreign cultures.
Who do you nominate for our next Meet the Team interview?
I'd like to nominate Miha Grgič Jelen, our Backend developer. He takes care of so many things that keep our platform running smoothly, so maybe he’ll share his secret on how he manages to do that. Besides that, he is a really fun person to talk to, always cheerful with a smile on his face, which always gives a morale boost to our team!
Great, thanks Matic!
Coming up next month, I chat with Backend Developer, Miha Grgič Jelen.
