Customer Insight - Assessing 1000+ EV Charging Sites a Year

As you might already know, Dodona eMobility plays a key role for its clients, enabling them to make data-driven decisions when planning their EV charging networks. Dodona’s Co-Founder & VP in the US Chris Chamberlain chats to one such client - PoGo Charge - about how this plays out for them.

The UK’s charging network is expanding rapidly in order to meet the increasing number of electric vehicles (EVs) on the roads. Last year the UK passed a significant milestone - with over 40,000 public EV charging points available nationwide.

Within this exciting context, PoGo Charge is hard at work achieving its vision of becoming the UK’s leading provider of rapid EV charging stations. The assessment of potential charging sites for electric vehicles is a complex business, and as Stuart mentions, the PoGo team is currently looking at hundreds if not thousands of these sites a year.

Chris and Stuart discuss the challenges that this creates for the team, but also how Dodona’s platform is able to provide a solution as well as bringing other advantages such as speed and confidence. From their conversation, it is clear that the value of data-driven site assessment is invaluable to the work of PoGo’s network development team.

“Dodona is a tool which we use in our network development team. It's a product that we use to assess and select sites in the UK. It gives us lots of detailed information on traffic flows, points of interest, local competition, as well as electricity availability, and a few other points that we've made bespoke for our own use.”

- Stuart Douglas, Managing Director, PoGo Charge

For anyone looking to build an EV charging network, or currently doing so,  I highly recommend using 30 minutes of your time to listen to their conversation! Aside from how they are making the most of Dodona eMobility, Stuart and Chris touch on other topics critical to the building of an effective, nationwide charging infrastructure - including the important role that partnerships can play, and the challenges faced in the early stages of EV adoption.

It seems that the industry is becoming more aware of a need for enhancing customer experience, as this is also a topic on Stuart’s mind. Understanding behavioral insights, and ensuring customer safety and accessibility at charging locations, is evidently an important topic for PoGo, as they work towards their rapid charging goals for the UK.
