Each month we talk to a different member of the Dodona team. This November, we hear from Luka Gorgiev on his current role, career experiences, and why his work with Dodona is so fulfilling.

A Technical Consultant here at Dodona, Luka took the time to talk to me about his time with the company, and how it feels to be part of the Dodona team and product. He's from "the sunny part" of Slovenia he tells me, and there is no mistaking the bright, constructive attitude Luka has towards his work, colleagues, and his passions in life.

Hi Luka, What do you do at Dodona?

At Dodona I work as a Customer Facing Technical Consultant. Half of my role involves interacting with our customers - helping them with onboarding, answering technical queries, and working with them to define development requirements. When I’m not doing that, I contribute as a full-stack developer, working on our app. I also assist with internal technical questions and share customer insights, so our developers have a clear understanding of the issues they’re solving and the reasons behind them.

What is your favorite part of working at Dodona?

Working here feels like working on a passion project with friends. The vision is clear, and the whole team works together really well, which makes everything we do collaborative and fulfilling. There is a lot of room to contribute ideas, which makes it feel like everyone’s input is valued and can have real impact. It’s that mix of working on something meaningful with a close-knit, talented group that makes it such an enjoyable place to work.

What has the experience of working here taught you, or will help you in your career?

Working here has taught me that every challenge is an opportunity to learn and grow. You rarely know the right solution on the first try, but by tackling the problem, you gain new insights - even if your initial approach doesn’t work. Sometimes you even have to refine your solution or start over from scratch, but either way, you walk away with valuable knowledge. And that constant learning and adapting is what helps you grow, both personally and in your career.

What general career advice would you give to other professionals like you who are starting out, especially those wanting to work with a start-up?

You need to bring only two things the workplace: value and a good attitude. Wherever you work, focus on delivering results that matter and contribute to the overall success of the team. At the same time, a positive attitude is key - challenges will come up, and how you approach them can define your growth. Being adaptable, collaborative, and open to learning will help you stand out and grow in any professional setting. This is especially important in start-ups, where teams are smaller and individuals have a greater impact.

What do you like to do outside of Dodona?

Outside of Dodona, I love spending time with my dog, especially hiking together. I'm a bit of a tech nerd, so I enjoy tinkering with hardware and software in my free time. I also like gardening, and every year my brother and I make our own hot sauces - the hottest pepper we've grown is the Carolina Reaper! I'm into board games and video games too, but my biggest passion is going to concerts and music festivals. There's nothing like the energy of live music.

What are you reading, watching or playing that we should try?

My friends and I really like playing the board game Terraforming Mars. It’s a mix of strategy and resource management, where every game feels fresh because you have to adapt to different cards and the actions of your opponents. There’s not much luck involved, which I like, and while it’s easy to pick up, mastering it takes some clever thinking. It’s a great way to have fun and challenge ourselves together.

Who do you nominate for next month's Meet the Team interview?

I’d nominate Jan Pristovnik next. He’s part of our data science team, so he’ll have some interesting insights to share. Not only is he incredibly smart, but he’s also always in a great mood and ready to help out, which makes him a real pleasure to work with.

Thank you Luka, it was a pleasure to chat with you.

Coming up next month, Data Scientist, Jan Pristovnik!
